We finished the book we are currently reading, Twelve Pillars by Jim Rohn and Chris Widener and the we were joined on the call by the author Chris Widener!!!  It was great to finish up the story and learn the real last name of Charlie and to hear the final pillars taught by Mr. Davis.

We started a new book this week on the Book Readers Club from one of my personal favorite authors, Jon Gordon called Training Camp: What the Best Do Better Than Everyone Else.  We read from the Introduction through Chapter 7 and already this story and the teachings Jon is imparting from it are engaging!  A couple of our favorite quotes from the reading on the call this morning:

(page 13) "As Sun Tzu said, 'Every battle is won before it's ever fought.'  It starts in the mind" (page 13) "Making the team is a goal.  But striving for greatness is a life mission." - How long did it take you to write the book?
Bob bugged him for 6 months to do it, and John didn’t take it too seriously.  Started January 2005 and by March 2005, 6 weeks it was done.  They spent a year re-doing and revising.  Re-writing is simplifying and taking things out and 60-70% was taken out.
-How long did it take to get a publisher to accept the book?
His agent, Margaret, took the book to New York, and nobody wanted it.  Not a single bite.  After a year of revision re-writing several wanted it…  It can vary SO much, some take a year, other can get signed in a day!
-How many books have you written?
The Answer he ghost wrote.  He has written about a dozen different books…
-How did you come up with the Laws?
The 5 laws were not discovered before writing the book.  They emerged from the process of writing, five days in the week, one for each day made sense…
